Yara Roberts

Producer YaraYara is the director of the Academy of Cooking & Other Pleasures in Paraty, Brazil, where she organizes gastronomy tours and teaches Brazilian Cuisine classes to visitors from over 60 different countries around the globe. 

She was the host for the PBS-WGBH series “Cooks Tour” directed by Laurie Donnelly, focusing on cuisines from around the world giving special attention to their culture and traditions. The series received two “Emmy” nominations. Yara was also featured in a segment for Canadian television, which has been shown around the world on channels such as People & Arts, Discovery Channel and PBS. She is the subject of the video, “Brazilian Cuisine with Yara Roberts”.

The NYT: “…she [Yara Roberts] is a vivacious and seemingly inexhaustible ambassador for food and other things Brazilian. And she is an accomplished cook.”

Yara Roberts is a native of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She began her culinary education as a young girl with her mother, Belita de Castro, a well-known chef. Later Yara graduated from the Boston University Culinary Art Program, and attended Radcliff College and the Ritz-Escoffier Cooking School. She is fluent in Portuguese, French, Spanish, and English. Yara has taught at several schools and culinary organizations in the United States such as Boston University, Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, the Rhode Island School of Design, the International Food Festival of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Draeger’s Culinary Center in San Francisco and the Culinary School at Wegman’s Food Market in New York, among many others.

Yara Roberts is a native of Belo Horizonte, Brazil.     Espero ter em breve seu livro em minha loja – nao eh uma livraria mas tem um pouquinho de todos os “prazeres” Brasileiros.
